Adults are humans or animals which have attained their maximum developmental stage. Adults are considered to be a social notion and also a legal notion in the human world. Legal adults are those who is at the point of maturity and can be defined as an independent, self-sufficient person as well as responsible. It is also possible to view them as a "major". There is a general belief that the threshold at which an individual can legally become an adult is 18. But, it can be different based on rights under the law and the country of origin as well as the development of the individual's psychological.

In the lifespan of an individual, adulthood refers to the time at which he or she has achieved full intellectual and physical maturation. Adulthood, as it is typically understood, is at the age of around 20 or 21. It is around 60 years after middle age. The three main stages of adulthood are early adulthood (from the mid 30s until late 60s), middle adulthood from the mid-30s through late-60s, and finally adulthood, (mid-60s through end of life). As we enter early adulthood we have reached its physical maturity to the maximum. But, the body's size and weight could grow. In early adulthood the physical capabilities of our bodies reach their peak. These include muscle strength and reaction time.
